Honoring the Legacy of Ciise Jiidow Maxaad: A Somali Cultural Icon

It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of our beloved brother, the late Ciise Jiidow Maxaad, who passed away yesterday in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. May Allah grant him mercy and illuminate his resting place with divine light.
Ciise Jiidow Maxaad was a towering figure in the Somali literary and cultural landscape, renowned for his exceptional contributions to poetry, playwriting, and the preservation of Somali heritage. His works were a testament to the rich tapestry of Somali culture, weaving together the threads of tradition, language, and artistic expression.
As we bid farewell to this illustrious son of Somalia, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, his children, his siblings, his friends, and the entire Somali nation. Ciise Jiidow Maxaad was a beacon of hope and pride for all Somalis, a true ambassador of our culture and identity.
In this transient world, where nothing is permanent, we are reminded that life is but a fleeting journey. The Hereafter is the true destination, the eternal abode that we all strive for. As the Qur’an states, “Every soul shall taste death, and you will be paid in full your reward on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever is removed from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has indeed attained the triumph. The life of this world is no more than the enjoyment of delusion.” (3:185)
Let us take solace in the knowledge that Ciise Jiidow Maxaad has returned to his Creator, and may Allah grant him the highest ranks in Jannatul Firdaus.
