Somali Minister’s Visit to London: Strengthening Ties and Planning for Progress

Somalia’s Minister of Planning, Mahmoud Abdirrahman Sheikh Farah Bene Bene, was warmly welcomed during his recent visit to London. The event brought together members of the Somali diaspora community, who gathered to hear the minister’s vision for the country’s development and progress.
Minister Bene Bene, who also serves as a member of the Federal Parliament, addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration between the government and the diaspora. He acknowledged the significant contributions made by Somalis living abroad, stating, “If we did not have a strong Somali nation standing firm, we would not exist.”
The minister highlighted the challenges faced by the government and the need for collective efforts to overcome them. He praised the leadership of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Prime Minister Hamse, and the Council of Ministers for their dedication to advancing the nation’s interests.
During his speech, Minister Bene Bene reflected on his recent engagements, including accompanying President Mohamud on a visit to Germany, where they met with Chancellor Olaf Scholz and other German officials. He also attended investment conferences in Frankfurt and Geneva, emphasizing the importance of seeking international support and partnerships for Somalia’s development.
Addressing the diaspora community, the minister acknowledged their vital role, stating, “We need different perspectives, trust, and advice from you who are outside the country.” He assured the audience that their input and recommendations would be conveyed to the government, as their voices play a crucial role in shaping Somalia’s future.
The visit served as a platform for strengthening ties between the Somali government and the diaspora community in London. It highlighted the government’s commitment to inclusive development and the recognition of the diaspora’s potential contributions to the nation’s progress.
