Balcad Football Tournament Showcases Local Talent and Government Support
BALCAD, Somalia – A highly anticipated football tournament featuring local teams Balcad Star and FC Halgan from Balcad district was held at the Dr. Eugenio Stadium in Balcad, Middle Shabelle region. The event showcased the talent of young Somali footballers and the federal government’s support for youth development initiatives.
The tournament, organized for the top division clubs in Balcad, drew participation from the Balcad District Football Association chairman, officials from the Banadir regional football association, and notably, the Minister of Youth and Sports for Hirshabelle State, Yusuf Dheere.
Qaasim Ali Nuur, the district commissioner of Balcad, was among the dignitaries who graced the occasion, underscoring the local administration’s commitment to promoting sports and youth empowerment.
After an exciting final match, Balcad Star emerged victorious, while FC Halgan put up a commendable performance as runners-up. The event was hailed as a resounding success, fostering unity and providing a platform for young talents to showcase their skills.
Speaking at the event, Aweys Ali Dakhir Kabiil, the chairman of the Balcad District Football Association, congratulated the winning team and praised the efforts of all participating clubs. He emphasized the importance of sports in promoting peace and development in the region.
Minister Yusuf Dheere commended the district administration’s efforts in organizing the tournament and pledged the federal government’s continued support for youth programs and sports development across the country.
