Somali government officials from the Federal Government and regional states recently gathered for a consultative meeting organized by the Ministry of Planning. The event brought together key stakeholders to review the implementation of Somalia’s 9th National Development Plan (NDP).
The meeting was attended by representatives from various federal ministries and regional administrations, including the Director Generals of Planning from Jubbaland and Galmudug states, Hashim Dubow Hussein and Abdullahi Omar Adan, respectively.
In his opening remarks, Mohamed Hassan Shire, the Director General of the Federal Ministry of Planning, emphasized the importance of this collaborative effort in assessing the progress, challenges, and necessary revisions to the NDP.
“Today, we have the privilege of convening at the Ministry of Planning to follow up on the mid-term review and update of the 9th National Development Plan,” Shire stated. “We aim to complete this process by December this year, if Allah wills.”
Shire acknowledged the valuable participation of regional state representatives, who shared insights on the implementation of the NDP within their respective regions, highlighting achievements, obstacles faced, and lessons learned from the mid-term review.
The meeting provided a platform for open discussions and collaboration, enabling stakeholders to contribute their perspectives and experiences. This inclusive approach ensures that the revised NDP accurately reflects the diverse needs and priorities of Somalia’s federal and regional entities.
By fostering dialogue and coordination among all levels of government, this consultative process underscores Somalia’s commitment to sustainable and equitable development. The collective input will inform the finalization of the updated NDP, aligning national strategies with the evolving socio-economic landscape and ensuring effective resource allocation for the country’s progress.
