The Hirshabelle State Ministry of Education and Higher Learning, led by Minister Saciid Hagar Camloow, has laid the foundation stone for a new school in Beledweyne, dedicated to providing educational opportunities for girls in the region. The event was attended by the Governor of Hiraan Region, Muuse Sadd Weliye, and other local officials.
Minister Camloow highlighted the importance of this new school for the community, especially for young girls, and expressed gratitude to the individual who donated the land for the project. He emphasized the ministry’s commitment to expanding educational facilities in areas previously controlled by anti-peace elements, ensuring access to quality education for all Somali children.
“We are here today to lay the foundation for a school specifically designed for girls in Beledweyne and its surrounding areas,” said Minister Camloow. “This school will serve as a center for girls’ education and training, providing them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.”
The minister also acknowledged the support of the GPE (Global Partnership for Education) program, which has enabled the construction of several schools in the Shabelle region, including three schools dedicated to girls’ education and three early childhood development centers.
Governor Muuse Sadd Weliye expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Education and Higher Learning for their efforts in promoting education and development in the region. He emphasized the importance of empowering women and girls through education, ensuring they have equal opportunities to contribute to the progress of Somali society.
The new school is part of a larger initiative by the Hirshabelle State Government and its partners to improve access to quality education, particularly in areas previously affected by conflict and instability. By investing in girls’ education, the government aims to promote gender equality, empower women, and create a more prosperous and inclusive society.
