Empowering Somali Girls through Education: Government Launches Scholarship Initiative

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the Somali Federal Government has taken a significant step towards enhancing the knowledge and skills of Somali girls by launching a scholarship program designed to benefit 3,000 young women. The initiative aims to provide these girls with various skill-based training opportunities.
The event, organized to unveil the girls’ education scholarship, was attended by the Minister of Education, the Deputy Minister, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Members of Parliament, the Director of the Banadir Region Education Department, the Deputy Chairperson for Social Affairs of the Banadir Region, university representatives, and other dignitaries.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Hassan Mohamed Ali, and Asha Mohamed Hassan, the head of the Rajakaaba project, highlighted the importance of this initiative, which is designed to offer educational opportunities to 3,000 Somali girls who wish to benefit from this program. The scholarship covers various fields, including healthcare and education, as well as skills training.
The Rajakaaba project is a comprehensive initiative aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of girls, women, and youth. One of its key components is to provide training in essential life skills to empower women and young girls.
Mohamed Yusuf Nur, the Director of the Banadir Region Education Department, and Abdiasis Osman, the Deputy Chairperson for Social Affairs of the Banadir Region, welcomed the opportunity for 3,000 girls to receive educational scholarships, describing it as a joyous occasion.
Member of Parliament Nadia Salah and Deputy Minister of Education Nur Mustafa Mukhtar emphasized that the project will benefit 3,000 girls, highlighting the importance of education.
Finally, the Minister of Education, Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir, stated that providing educational opportunities to 3,000 girls is crucial, and they must seize this opportunity as intended.
