In the coastal city of Kismayo, a group of Somali military officers and non-commissioned officers from the Somali National Army’s infantry division have completed an intensive month-long training program. The training was facilitated by instructors from the United Kingdom, who regularly provide specialized training to various branches of the Somali National Army.
During a brief closing ceremony, Brigadier General Nur Mahad Hassan Nur, the commander of the 43rd Infantry Division of the Somali National Army, commended the UK instructors for their efforts in imparting valuable knowledge and skills to the Somali officers. He urged the newly trained officers to share their acquired expertise with their colleagues within the army.
One of the UK instructors, a captain, expressed gratitude to the Somali military leadership for their cooperation and hospitality, which enabled the successful execution of the training program. He also acknowledged the support of the local security forces in Kismayo, whose collaboration was crucial for the smooth running of the training activities.
Addressing the officers, Brigadier General Nur emphasized the importance of applying and disseminating the knowledge gained during the training. He stressed that true knowledge is only valuable when shared and put into practice, urging the officers to impart their newfound skills and insights to their respective units upon their return.
The training covered a wide range of topics, including combat readiness, leadership, and various military tactics and strategies. By enhancing the capabilities of its officers, the Somali National Army aims to strengthen its overall operational effectiveness and better serve the nation’s security needs.
As the officers depart Kismayo, they carry with them not only enhanced skills but also a renewed commitment to professionalism and excellence within the Somali military ranks.
