Organized by the SODMA organization and Mogadishu University, the event brought together researchers, academics, and government officials to present their findings and propose actionable solutions.
Over the course of the conference, more than 20 research studies were presented, accompanied by four panel discussions featuring up to 15 experts. The diverse range of perspectives and expertise allowed for a comprehensive exploration of the challenges facing Somali languages.
One of the key speakers, Mohamed Farah, the Director of the Language Management Center at Mogadishu University, expressed his optimism about the conference’s potential impact. “If the recommendations and findings from these research studies are implemented, we can find effective solutions to the linguistic challenges facing our nation,” he stated.

Participants emphasized the need for collaborative efforts between government agencies, academic institutions, and community organizations to develop and implement strategies that safeguard the country’s linguistic diversity.
