Galkayo District Hosts Community Dialogue on Land Management

The district administration of Galkayo, under the regional state of Galmudug, has convened a two-day community forum focusing on land management and urban development issues. The event brings together various stakeholders, including the district mayor, council members, engineers, traditional elders, academics, businesspeople, women’s groups, and youth organizations.
The primary objective of the forum is to establish a unified land management plan for the city of Galkayo. Discussions will center around resolving land disputes, preserving public roads, and enhancing the cleanliness and beautification of the city.
In his opening remarks, Galkayo District Mayor Abdirrahman Sheikh Hassan Jimcaale emphasized the importance of collective efforts in addressing the city’s challenges. He highlighted three key areas of focus: land management, urban planning, and community engagement.
“We must think about the future of our community,” the mayor stated. “These three issues – land, urban planning, and community involvement – are crucial for Galkayo’s development and prosperity.”
Participants will have the opportunity to voice their concerns, share perspectives, and propose solutions throughout the two-day event. The forum aims to foster constructive dialogue and collaboration among diverse stakeholders, ultimately leading to a comprehensive plan for sustainable urban growth and improved living conditions in Galkayo.
As the first day of the forum concluded, attendees engaged in lively discussions on the various topics presented, setting the stage for further deliberations and potential resolutions on the second day.
