Hirshabelle State President and First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Siraj Sheikh Isaq, officially launched the second phase of the district integration conference for the regional state today. The conference, aimed at strengthening governance and accountability, brought together representatives from various districts within Hirshabelle State.
The mayors of Beledweyne and Jowhar cities opened the conference, expressing their gratitude for hosting the event in Jowhar. “We warmly welcome you and are delighted to participate in this crucial gathering, representing the Hiraan region and Beledweyne district,” said the mayor of Beledweyne.
The deputy governors of the Hiraan and Middle Shabelle regions, which make up Hirshabelle State, commended the Ministry of Interior and Local Governments for organizing this significant conference. They emphasized their commitment to continuing their participation and expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to convene in the state’s capital.
Nuur Hassan Muuse Nuur, the Director-General of the Ministry of Interior and Local Governments, explained the objectives of the conference to the participants. “It is a great pleasure to welcome you to this important training, designed for the district and local government officials of Hirshabelle State. We appreciate your time and participation, which demonstrates your dedication to advancing the administration and development of our communities and regions.”
Abdi Dahir Gure Koore, the Minister of Interior and Local Governments, also addressed the gathering. “A year ago, we convened the district commissioners and regional governors. Now, we have invited the deputy governors, elected and appointed mayors, and local government representatives. Our goal is to implement the federal government’s policy on local governance, which we have already initiated in four districts, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Interior.”
He emphasized the importance of implementing the identification card system in Jowhar, Warshiikh, Buulobarde, and Beledweyne, as part of the efforts to strengthen local governance.
Siraj Sheikh Isaq, the First Deputy Speaker of the Hirshabelle Parliament, officially inaugurated the conference, highlighting its significance for the people working in the districts and regions of Hirshabelle State. “For the first time, this conference will serve as a platform for those working in the districts to learn and take charge of the local councils. We anticipate the emergence of elected administrations, without fear of dismissal or interference, ensuring they can work diligently.”
The conference aims to foster stronger governance, accountability, and regional cooperation within Hirshabelle State, paving the way for more effective local administration and development initiatives.
