The Somali government has taken proactive steps to restore peace and promote the rule of law in the Bakool region. A high-level delegation led by the Minister of Security, Hassan Abdulqadir, and comprising ministers, military officials, and judiciary representatives, recently visited the region.
The primary objective of the visit was to engage with local authorities, security agencies, and community leaders to address recent security incidents and prevent future conflicts. The delegation held meetings with district and regional administrations, security forces, and traditional elders to discuss strategies for maintaining law and order.
Minister Abdulqadir emphasized the importance of strengthening governance and ensuring equal access to justice for all citizens. He urged the local population to cooperate with the government and report any issues through proper channels instead of resorting to clan-based resolutions.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs plans to organize community forums to raise awareness about the dangers of extremism and promote religious tolerance. Similarly, the Ministry of Justice will conduct public outreach programs to educate citizens about their legal rights and the importance of seeking justice through formal institutions.
Despite the challenges, the Somali National Army (SNA) has made significant progress in degrading the capabilities of terrorist groups operating in the region. Minister Abdulqadir commended the bravery and dedication of the SNA soldiers, who have conducted successful operations against the enemy, inflicting heavy casualties while minimizing their own losses.
The government’s proactive approach aims to address the root causes of conflicts and promote sustainable peace and development in the Bakool region. By engaging with local communities, strengthening governance, and enhancing security, the Somali authorities hope to create an environment conducive to stability and prosperity.
