In a remarkable display of unity and commitment to improving healthcare facilities, Mogadishu’s Laasaanati Hospital has received a much-needed boost through a green initiative spearheaded by the government and health organizations. Dr. Mohamed Jaafar Ali, the General Manager of Laasaanati Hospital, and Abdirrahman Dheere, the President’s Special Envoy for Health and Welfare, have joined forces to plant 100 trees within the hospital’s maternity ward, marking the first phase of a larger revitalization project.
The initiative, which falls under the President’s campaign to transform Mogadishu into a safe and sustainable city, aims to create a nurturing environment for patients, particularly women seeking maternal care. Dr. Mohamed Jaafar Ali expressed his gratitude towards the President’s Envoy and the “Green Bisha” organization, whose efforts made the tree-planting event possible.
“Today, we are here in the maternity ward, where we have begun the process of greening the hospital, in line with the President’s policy of making Mogadishu and all other areas safe and secure,” Dr. Ali stated. “We extend our sincere appreciation to the President’s Special Envoy for Health and Welfare, MP Abdirrahman Dheere, and the ‘Green Bisha’ organization for enabling us to plant 100 trees today, including fruit-bearing trees that will provide nourishment and shade for our patients.”
The newly planted trees, consisting of a variety of species including fruit trees, shade trees, and medicinal plants, will not only enhance the hospital’s aesthetic appeal but also contribute to a healthier environment for patients and staff alike. The initiative recognizes the importance of creating a tranquil and restorative atmosphere, which can positively impact the healing process and overall well-being of those seeking medical care.
Dr. Farax Mohamed Sharaawi, the Director of Drug Management at the Ministry of Health, commended the progress being made at Laasaanati Hospital, stating, “As someone who has been working at the hospital for some time, it is a great opportunity for me to be part of this renovation project, specifically the maternity ward dedicated to treating women’s health issues. Witnessing the ongoing construction and renovation efforts fills me with joy, as the hospital was in dire need of such improvements.”
Abdirrahman Dheere, the President’s Special Envoy for Health and Welfare, praised the efforts of the “Green Bisha” organization and the hospital’s management team, highlighting their dedication to creating a greener and healthier environment for patients. “Today, we are witnessing the fruits of our labor, as we donate 100 trees to the hospital, bringing much-needed greenery and shade to this vital healthcare facility,” he said. “This initiative aligns with the President’s call for a greener nation and the Ministry’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure.”
The tree-planting event not only represents a tangible step towards enhancing patient care but also serves as a powerful symbol of hope and resilience. By fostering a greener, more nurturing environment, Laasaanati Hospital is paving the way for a healthier and more sustainable future for the people of Mogadishu.
