Somali Armed Forces Commander Addresses Troop Deployment and Security Concerns

In a powerful address to the nation, the Commander of the Somali Armed Forces, General Xusay, outlined the government’s strategy for deploying troops and addressing security challenges posed by the militant group Al-Shabaab. His speech underscored the need for a unified national effort to combat threats and protect the country’s sovereignty.
The Deployment of Troops
General Xusay announced the imminent deployment of Somali Armed Forces to various regions, emphasizing the government’s determination to eliminate Al-Shabaab’s presence and restore stability. He stressed that the troops would be guided by a clear mandate and rules of engagement, ensuring that their actions are lawful and in line with human rights principles.
“We will not tolerate any violations of the law or human rights by our forces,” General Xusay stated firmly. “Our soldiers are trained to protect the civilian population and uphold the highest standards of professionalism.”
Addressing Security Challenges
The Commander acknowledged the complex security challenges facing Somalia, particularly the threat posed by Al-Shabaab. He condemned the group’s violent tactics and emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach that combines military operations with efforts to address the root causes of extremism.
“Al-Shabaab’s ideology is a cancer that must be eradicated from our society,” General Xusay declared. “We will not only confront them militarily but also work to counter their propaganda and provide alternative pathways for our youth.”
Calls for National Unity
A central theme of the Commander’s speech was the call for national unity and collective effort in confronting the challenges facing Somalia. He urged all Somalis, regardless of clan or regional affiliations, to rally behind the government’s efforts to restore peace and stability.
“This is not a battle for any one group or region,” General Xusay emphasized. “It is a struggle for the future of our entire nation. We must stand together, united in our resolve to defeat those who seek to divide and destroy us.”
The Commander also acknowledged the sacrifices made by Somali security forces and expressed gratitude for their unwavering commitment to protecting the nation.
International Cooperation
General Xusay highlighted the importance of international cooperation in addressing Somalia’s security challenges. He expressed appreciation for the support provided by the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and other international partners, but stressed the need for Somali ownership and leadership in the process.
“While we value the assistance of our international partners, the ultimate responsibility for securing Somalia rests with us,” he stated. “We must build our own capable and professional security forces to safeguard our sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
The Commander’s speech was met with widespread support from Somali citizens and international observers, who praised his clear vision and commitment to addressing the country’s security challenges through a comprehensive and lawful approach.
