In the town of Magway, located in the Galgadud region, Somali National Army troops and local forces successfully repelled an Al-Shabaab attack aimed at infiltrating the area. The militants attempted to seize control of the town for over two hours, but the joint forces valiantly defended their positions, ultimately forcing the insurgents to retreat.
Reports indicate that eight Al-Shabaab fighters were killed during the confrontation, while fourteen others sustained injuries. The resilience and bravery displayed by the Somali forces and local residents in defending their community and faith against the extremist group’s aggression deserve commendation.
Furthermore, in the Lower Jubba region’s town of Bulo Haji, Somali Commandos and Jubaland forces jointly thwarted another Al-Shabaab attack aimed at destroying military equipment and personnel. The militants suffered significant losses, with more than ten fighters killed and fifteen others injured, according to local sources.
In a separate operation in the Mudug region’s town of Amara, Somali forces successfully eliminated Ismail Beerdi, a prominent Al-Shabaab leader responsible for the Galgadud and Mudug regions. Additionally, Idir Taakow, a notable military commander within the militant group, was also killed during the operation.
