The Somali National Army (SNA) and local forces have successfully repelled attempts by Al-Shabaab militants to attack the town of Magway in the Galgadud region. The joint forces, acting on intelligence from local residents, preemptively evacuated women and children from the town before engaging the militants.
After securing the civilians, the SNA and local forces coordinated their efforts and confronted the approaching Al-Shabaab fighters. In the ensuing clash, the joint forces inflicted heavy casualties on the militants, killing at least eight and wounding fourteen others, according to reports.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Information, Ismail Mukhtar Oraah, praised the bravery and coordination of the SNA and local forces in defending the town and the Somali people from the terrorist threat posed by Al-Shabaab.
This successful operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the Somali government and its security forces to eliminate the Al-Shabaab menace and restore peace and stability throughout the country.
