A Somali non-governmental organization, Tadamun, has delivered crucial aid to 500 displaced families residing in camps within Mogadishu’s Kaxda district. The aid, part of the “Food and Shelter” project funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center of Saudi Arabia, aimed to alleviate the dire conditions faced by these vulnerable communities.
The comprehensive aid package included essential items such as tents, mattresses, blankets, cooking utensils, and other vital supplies. The distribution took place across various camps in the Dayniile, Garasbaley, and Kaxda districts of Mogadishu, ensuring that the aid reached those most in need.
“Today, we are distributing aid in the Kaxda district of Mogadishu, targeting 500 families,” said Mohamed Amin, the coordinator of Tadamun’s development projects. “Each family will receive a package containing essential items like tents, mattresses, blankets, and cooking utensils.”
The aid distribution is part of a larger initiative by Tadamun to address the pressing needs of displaced populations in Somalia. Conflict, drought, and other environmental factors have forced many families to flee their homes, seeking refuge in overcrowded camps with limited access to basic necessities.
One of the beneficiaries, a displaced resident of the Kaxda district, expressed gratitude for the assistance received. “I am thankful to Tadamun and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center for this support,” they said. “It has been a challenging journey since I was displaced, and this aid will help alleviate some of the hardships we face.”
Tadamun’s efforts have not been limited to the Kaxda district alone. The organization has also carried out aid distributions in the Dayniile, Garasbaley, and other camps hosting displaced populations in the Banadir region.
The aid provided by Tadamun and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center is a crucial step in addressing the urgent needs of displaced communities in Mogadishu. However, long-term solutions are required to address the root causes of displacement and ensure sustainable support for those affected.
