Somalia Officially Excludes Ethiopia from Upcoming AMISOM Mission

Somalia’s Federal Government has officially confirmed that Ethiopia will be excluded from the list of countries participating in the upcoming African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) operations in 2025.
During a press conference today, Somalia’s Minister of Information, Abdiqadir Mohamed Nur, stated that Ethiopia has been removed from the list of countries contributing troops to the new AMISOM mission in Somalia.
“We have removed Ethiopia from the mission because they have violated our sovereignty and unity,” the minister said, accusing Ethiopia of undermining Somalia’s territorial integrity and nationhood.
The minister further revealed that the list of countries contributing troops to the new AMISOM mission will be submitted soon. This new, streamlined AMISOM operation aims to support the capability of the Somali National Army in the fight against terrorism.
In December, Somalia will officially conclude the previous AMISOM mission, known as ATMIS, and hand over the bases currently occupied by ATMIS forces to the Somali National Army.
The decision to exclude Ethiopia from the upcoming AMISOM mission has been welcomed by Somali officials and the public, who view it as a necessary step to protect the country’s sovereignty and national interests.
