In a significant milestone for Somalil’s Khatumo State, the Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Abdi Ismail Sheen, officially inaugurated the new parliamentary headquarters building on December 5th, 2024. The inauguration ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, traditional leaders, and representatives from different segments of society, all expressing their delight at the completion of this crucial infrastructure project.
The new building, constructed through a community-driven initiative, will serve as a vital hub for the state’s legislative activities. It is the fourth government facility to be fully realized since the establishment of the Khatumo administration, underscoring the region’s commitment to development and nation-building.
During the inauguration ceremony, Vice President Sheen highlighted the importance of the new parliamentary headquarters for the administration and the community. He commended the local residents for their pivotal role in the project’s implementation, describing the building as the most significant achievement to date, symbolizing progress and unity for the people of Khatumo.
The event was attended by various dignitaries, including the Speaker of Parliament, the Deputy Speakers, members of parliament, ministers, security forces, women’s and youth representatives, media personnel, and other honored guests. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
“It is a great honor for me to participate in this momentous occasion today, on the 5th of December, which showcases the progress and advancement of the Khatumo State administration and its nation-building efforts,” said one of the attendees. “The inauguration of this magnificent parliamentary headquarters symbolizes the rise of statehood and the unity of our people in pursuing the aspirations of good governance.”
The Speaker of the Khatumo State Parliament, Jamac Yasin Warsame, expressed his gratitude to the community for their collaborative efforts and determination in constructing the new building. “It is a joyous occasion for us to gather here today, on the 5th of December 2024, for the inauguration of the Khatumo State Parliament’s new headquarters,” he said. “I thank God Almighty for enabling us to accomplish this task peacefully and successfully, and I extend my appreciation to all those who contributed to the construction of this magnificent edifice.”
