The Ministry of Interior and Reconciliation of the Galmudug State Government organized community dialogues in the district of Baxdo, Galgadud region. The aim was to strengthen cooperation between security agencies and various segments of the community to enhance security and peace in the area.
The event was officially opened by the District Commissioner of Baxdo, Mr. Mohamed Abdullahi. Participants included the district administration, security officials from the police, military, and regional forces, as well as traditional leaders, religious scholars, youth, and women representatives.
The objective of the dialogues was to enhance collaboration between security agencies and the local community. As the District Commissioner stated, “We have gathered here today to open a dialogue between the community and various security agencies, organized by the Ministry of Interior and Reconciliation of the Galmudug State Government, with support from IOM and other partners.”
He emphasized the importance of security for any community, noting that without peace and stability, no progress or development can be achieved. Baxdo district had previously faced challenges from extremist groups, but with the support of the state and federal governments, along with the resilience of the local population, significant gains were made.
The District Commissioner commended the people of Baxdo for their unity, determination, and efforts in achieving the current level of progress and security. He also expressed gratitude to the Galmudug State Government, the Federal Government of Somalia, and international partners for their unwavering support.
The community dialogues aimed to provide a platform for the public to engage with security agencies, raise concerns, and foster mutual understanding and cooperation. Such initiatives are crucial for sustaining peace, stability, and development in the region.
