Strengthening Somali-China Parliamentary Ties for Mutual Development

Somalia and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening parliamentary cooperation for mutual development and prosperity. In a recent meeting in Mogadishu, Sayid Ali Ishaaq Mohamed, Secretary of the Foreign Relations Committee of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, and the Secretary of the Somalia-China Parliamentary Friendship Committee, met with the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia.
The two officials discussed ways to enhance the long-standing relationship between the two countries, particularly between their respective parliamentary foreign affairs committees. The Chinese Ambassador emphasized the importance of the friendship and cooperation between Somalia and China, built on mutual trust and respect.
Ambassador highlighted that China views Somalia as a crucial partner in Africa and reaffirmed China’s unwavering support for Somalia’s efforts to achieve political stability, economic growth, and development of the country’s economic pillars. He commended the recent legislative initiatives passed by the Somali Parliament aimed at promoting good governance and security.
China expressed its readiness to support these efforts in the most appropriate manner and provide necessary assistance. Secretary Sayid Ali thanked the Ambassador for China’s role in Somalia’s reconstruction and the support it provides to the country. They agreed to further strengthen the fruitful cooperation between the two sides.
Sayid Ali stated, “We appreciate China’s commitment to Somalia’s future by supporting development projects in roads, schools, and health facilities. China has proven to be a true friend of Somalia. We hope to explore this cooperation and exchange of ideas through our parliaments to build a prosperous future beneficial to the peoples of both nations.”
The Mogadishu meeting between Sayid Ali Ishaaq Mohamed and the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia was crucial in further cementing the diplomatic ties between China and Somalia. It highlighted the role of the Somalia-China Parliamentary Friendship Committee in promoting dialogue and exchange between the legislators of the two countries.
