Unveiling Advanced CT Scan Technology at Banadir Hospital

In a significant stride towards enhancing healthcare services in Somalia, the government has unveiled a state-of-the-art CT scan machine at Banadir Hospital in Mogadishu. This advanced medical technology is part of a broader initiative to revitalize and equip eight major hospitals across the Banadir region.
The event, graced by dignitaries including Senator Zam Zam and hospital administrators, marked a momentous occasion for the country’s healthcare sector. Senator Zam Zam, in her opening remarks, emphasized the government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and services for the people of Somalia.
“Today, we celebrate the installation of this cutting-edge CT scan machine, which is the most advanced of its kind in the region,” she stated. “This is just the beginning of our efforts to upgrade and equip eight hospitals in the Banadir region with modern facilities and specialized medical personnel.”
In addition to the CT scan machine, the government has recruited specialized doctors in various fields, including radiology, emergency medicine, hematology, and anesthesiology, to enhance the quality of care provided at these hospitals.
Senator Zam Zam highlighted the government’s recent achievements in the healthcare sector, including the construction of nine new health facilities across different regions of the country over the past two years. She also announced plans to establish a major referral hospital in each of Somalia’s states, with the construction of a new facility in the Banadir region set to commence soon.
The acquisition of the CT scan machine and the overall healthcare initiative is part of the Somali government’s broader efforts to rebuild and restore essential services to the public. Senator Zam Zam acknowledged the vital role played by the private sector in providing healthcare services and called upon businesses to increase their investments in the sector.
“We urge the private sector to continue investing in healthcare and making it accessible to all Somalis,” she said. “Together, we can build a robust healthcare system that meets the needs of our people.”
The CT scan machine was procured through a grant provided by the World Bank to the Somali government, highlighting the international community’s support for the country’s development efforts.
As the ceremony concluded, Senator Zam Zam expressed her gratitude to all stakeholders involved in the project, including the World Bank, project management teams, ministry officials, and hospital administrators. She emphasized the importance of maintaining and utilizing the equipment effectively to ensure long-term benefits for the Somali people.
