Unveiling East African Fisheries: A New Era for Galmudug’s Fishing Industry

In a momentous occasion for the fishing industry of Galmudug, regional officials, business leaders, and community members came together to inaugurate East African Fisheries, a major new venture poised to transform the sector. The grand opening ceremony in Galkayo marked the launch of this ambitious project, which aims to streamline the distribution and marketing of seafood products across the region.
Abdullahi Haji Abdi, one of the company’s executives, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “Today, we are delighted to open the East Africa Fisheries and General Trading Company, a well-established enterprise with 28 successful years of operation.” He emphasized the company’s commitment to serving the community by providing high-quality products at fair prices.
The event drew participation from various stakeholders, including members of the Galkayo District Council and local business owners. They lauded the establishment of East African Fisheries, recognizing its potential to spur economic growth and development in the region.
One council member remarked, “We wholeheartedly welcome East African Fisheries and are delighted by any progress that uplifts our city. This venture will undoubtedly benefit the people of Mudug, as the fishing industry holds immense importance for our region.”
Bashir Isse Geedi, the Director of Trade and Investment for the Galkayo District Administration, also weighed in, highlighting the significance of the fishing industry for Somalia’s economic well-being. He noted that the country’s prosperity is deeply rooted in its agricultural, livestock, and maritime resources, making initiatives like East African Fisheries crucial for sustainable development.
As the fishing industry continues to gain traction in Galmudug, the launch of East African Fisheries represents a significant milestone.
